Benefits of Chamber Membership

Membership in our Chamber carries with it a number of significant benefits that help make business successful in an increasingly competitive South Florida marketplace.

Business Referral
Chamber staff responds to thousands of telephone, mail and Internet inquires about the Palm Beaches. Referrals can be obtained from our Web site at www.palmbeaches.org. Also, the Chamber answers thousands of local and national requests for recommendations on goods and services.

The Chamber refers these requests to Chamber members. We encourage members to use the Membership Directory in print or online as their primary resource when purchasing products and services. Doing business with companies that share a commitment to the Chamber and the future of our community is good business.

Chamber Publications, Communications & Advertising
When businesses join our Chamber, they open a door to several unique marketing opportunities via our broad range of communication vehicles. For example, this membership directory, Guide to the Palm Beaches, is an excellent way for members to promote their products and services. Local business leaders use this guide extensively as a reference. In addition, thousands of copies are distributed nationally and internationally in partnership with the Palm Beach Post to those interested in visiting or moving to the Palm Beaches.

Another important marketing avenue is the monthly newsletter, Business Watch, which keeps our members apprised of the latest Chamber business and events, committee projects, new legislation and community news. In addition to reaching Chamber members, the Business Watch also appears as a special business section in The Palm Beach Post once a month. In this capacity, the newsletter has an additional distribution of over 30,000 households in eight zip codes. Members also receive the weekly Chamber Update. This E-mail recaps the previous week’s events and meetings, and includes a schedule for the upcoming week.

The Chamber also produces many other informational publications such as the Real Estate Guide, Health Care Guide, and a map.

Information Center
The Chamber invites you to visit its beautiful offices on the Intracoastal waterfront in downtown West Palm Beach. Our large public lobby, information desk and brochure racks offer a wealth of information about the area. Members also have an opportunity to place their business brochures in the lobby, which serves thousands of visitors, relocators, residents and business people every year.

Internet Accessibility
www.palmbeaches.org and www.marathonpb.com are your information sources to exciting events and programs offered by the Chamber, including our renowned Marathon event. These state-of-the-art websites are filled with interactive icons, navigational bars, searching tools, and cutting-edge three-dimensional graphics for complete ease in browsing. Our websites are updated regularly and feature several means of business communications, including access to the Web sites of our members.

Networking Events
The Chamber provides valuable networking events and functions that create opportunities for members to interact with one another and gain new business contacts. Business card exchanges, business expos, seminars, member mixers, power networking breakfasts, leads groups, the annual baseball dinner, Marathon of the Palm Beaches, the annual dinner and silent auction and the golf tournament provide a variety of opportunities for members to become acquainted with other business leaders and entertain valued clients. These events bring together hundreds of business people in an informal environment for an ideal way to make new contacts.

Committees
Chamber committees offer members the opportunity for additional networking and leadership positions within many of the committee structures. Most committees meet on pre-set monthly dates, although some meet on an as-needed basis. Committee involvement is open to all Chamber members, attracting many of the Chamber’s most active individuals.

Many of the Chamber’s committees are issue-oriented, such as the Governmental Affairs Committee. Other committees have agendas that focus on educational and service opportunities. The Health Care and Women in Business committees are excellent examples of groups that provide their members with meetings that include speaker presentations and community service opportunities. The Women in Business Committee also recognizes women as valued leaders of the community through the ATHENA Award Program and Luncheon.

Some of the committees assist the Chamber with important goals in the areas of member recruitment and retention. The Ambassador Committee functions as the public relations welcoming group, assisting in new member orientations and promoting member retention. They also assist with the Chamber’s events and provide feedback to the Chamber Board of Directors regarding the needs and issues of concern to members.

The Young Professionals of the Palm Beaches (YPOP) reaches out to members between the ages of 21-40 providing mentoring, professional growth and community outreach opportunities. With meetings that include educational “field trips” and social gatherings, YPOP has an active calendar that allows the members to build lasting business relationships.
