SunFest is Florida’s largest music, art and waterfront festival held annually in downtown West Palm Beach. The 2009 event runs from April 29-May 3. SunFest attracts more than 280,000 visitors each year and takes place along the scenic Intracoastal Waterway. Sheryl Crow, Lenny Kravitz, Fergie, Carrie Underwood, Daughtry, Kenny G and Billy Idol are just a few of the musical artists that have graced the stages of SunFest in previous years.

Grassy Waters, part of the Florida Everglades, lays on the edge of a 20 square mile wetlands sanctuary. It features a nature center, accessible boardwalks and hiking trails. Guided canoeing and hikes are offered. Grassy Waters is the City of West Palm Beach Water Catchment Area. Open seven days a week.

 

Lion Country Safari

Located on Southern Boulevard, Lion Country Safari offers two parks for one price. Take a four-mile drive through the safari with over 800 animals roaming free, then visit Safari World Amusement Park with animal encounters/

Loggerhead Marinelife Center

The Loggerhead Marinelife Center is where visitors encounter educational

displays and exhibits, marine aquariums and live sea turtles. A hands—on approach encourages participation.  Sea turtle walks are scheduled for June and July. The center is located in a new facility on U.S. Highway 1 in Juno Beach, inside Loggerhead Park.

The South Florida Fair is Palm Beach County’s largest and oldest outdoor annual event. The Americaft Expo Center offers 140,000 square feet of trade space and is host to over 100 events. The Fair Agriplex provides a variety of agricultural and livestock exhibits. Cruzan Amphitheater and the historic Yesteryear Village are also located on the fairgrounds.

 

Yesteryear Village

Take a walk into Yesteryear Village and be transported to a different time. Yesteryear Village is a living museum that showcases buildings and artifacts from the 1850s—1950s. Yesteryear Village is open during the South Florida Fair, the Sweet Corn Fiesta, Halloween and Christmas in the Village and by appointment.

 

Sally Bennett Big Band Hall of Fame Museum

Opened in late 2005, the Sally Bennett Big Band Hall of Fame Museum hosts the largest collection of Big Band memorabilia in the nation and is the only known museum of its kind.

 

Bink Glisson Historical Museum

The Bink Glisson Historical Building is comprised of historical artifacts of early Florida settlers. The personal collection of Bink Glisson, a Palm Beach county pioneer, is showcased in the gallery and illustrates how people lived in days past with a display of Mr. Glisson’s artwork and a replicated one—room schoolhouse.
